Rangnick’s side needed it following three straight Premier League disasters, with two close 1-0 wins over bottom-half sides and the Newcastle tie. United still has a lot to show, but starting 2022 on a high note with a sixth-place finish — just 4 points behind 4th with a game in hand. It will go a long way toward boostingself-assurance.
